Who prepares Energy Certificates and for how long are they available?
The Energy Certificate of a building is prepared by energy auditors for buildings, which are authorized by the Ministry of Regional Development and of Tourism.
An Energy Certificate is valid for 10 years since it is issued.
Which are the classes of energy performance based on which buildings are classified and which grades can be given?
Depending on their actual energy performance, buildings are grouped into 7 classes on an energy scale, beginning from scale A for the lowest use of energy, respectively a consumption of up to 125 kWh/sqm/year, up to G class, which corresponds to the highest specific consumption of energy, respectively a consumption of over 820 kWh/sqm/year.
The grading system is of 1 to 100 and the grade that is determined based on well established criteria depends on the energy efficiency of the building.
